That is why we have found a unique way to give a second life to the wood recovered from the sea, coming from the mussel rafts of the Galician estuaries. This wood, which we have dubbed “heroic”, has tirelessly withstood the onslaught of storms, relentless sun and persistent rain during the 25 years it has been submerged, making it an exceptional choice for our furniture.
Our Ithaca wood is completely natural, with no additives or treatments that alter its original appearance. Each piece features the authentic beauty of marine wood, giving it a rustic and genuine charm.
In addition to its unique appearance and origin, it has special properties that make it stand out. The extreme environmental conditions in which it has been submerged for 25 years have given it exceptional resistance, both in terms of dimensional stability and resistance to pathogens. This wood combines strength and flexibility, allowing us to create innovative and durable designs.

At Velsan Design, we offer several presentation options. Ithaca wood can be shipped as beams with maximum dimensions of 12 meters long x 25 x 25 centimeters. This format is ideal for the construction of porches, decorative and structural elements.
In addition, we are prepared to manufacture custom-made furniture and decorative pieces on demand. Please note that due to the specific nature of this product, the size options available are limited, but we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
As for finishes, you can choose to leave the wood natural, without any treatment, highlighting its original beauty, or apply natural oils to enhance its tone and protect it.
